Give

Why we give

"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich" (2 Corinthians 8:9). God has given us the greatest treasure: eternal life in Jesus' name. Along with him, he graciously gives us all things (Romans 8:32).

"You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God" (2 Corinthians 9:11). Serving God with our money provides for the needs of God's people, and he will bless you far more than you gave to him.

"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7). Our giving reflects a heart that thanks God for all he has done.

When we give, we do not simply fill the church budget; we are exercising our faith. God has entrusted us with care of his gifts. We praise him when we put those gifts, including our money, to use for his kingdom. "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms" (1 Peter 4:10).
