Resurrection Lutheran Church

About Resurrection

At Resurrection Lutheran Church, we celebrate the life, death, and victorious resurrection of our Savior. Just like the empty tomb, our hope is alive because Jesus conquered sin and death — for you, for me, for all. Whether you're new to the area or seeking a church family, we invite you to worship with us to learn more about Jesus. Welcome to Resurrection. We're glad you're here.

What We Believe

Resurrection is a Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) congregation. The Book of Concord contains the historical confessions of Lutheranism — the Wisconsin Synod is in full agreement with the teachings in these confessions. This We Believe contains key doctrinal statements of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

Our history

Resurrection — Verona

Outreach work in Verona began in the 1990s. In 1998 the first pastor, Doug Tomhave, was assigned to start a new congregation. The first service of Resurrection was held in September 1999 at 600 W Verona Ave. A permanent facility followed in the mid-2000s.

Mt. Olive — Monroe

Mt. Olive Lutheran Church was formed in 1945. In 1981 the congregation outgrew its facility and purchased the current building on the corner of 16th Ave and 16th St. In 2016 Pastor Donal Swartz announced retirement for 2017.

Resurrection Lutheran (multi-site)

In 2017 the merger of Resurrection (Verona) and Mt. Olive (Monroe) took place. Resurrection is now one church in two locations: Verona and Monroe. Pastors have continued to be called to serve the joined congregation in the years since.

What is a site / campus?

"Site" denotes location — we have two sites, one in Verona and one in Monroe. RLC is one church with two sites that allow us to share God's Word better in those communities. "Campus" reminds us that each location is a gathering place for the same family of faith.
