This Week

Apathy check Apathy is not always just who you are; it often develops slowly due to neglect or inaction. It can easily look like a neutral position or even virtue, but it is the opposite of what we are called to in our walk with Jesus. This weekend we will observe Israel's apathy under King Hoshea (2 Kings 17), let God's Word convict us too, and then look to the cross, the culmination of Jesus' zeal for saving sinners. Worship with us Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

St. Andrew Dedication—a celebration of A Place of Peace What a blessing last weekend was! Thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen, including décor, setup, cooking, takedown, cleanup, assembly, serving, and organizing. View some photos of the event here.

Pastor for Outreach call Our next call meeting is October 4 at 11:45 AM. After open discussion about the candidates, the voters will select one who will then receive the call. These candidates are proposed by Western Wisconsin District President Michael Jensen.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Nurture

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Serving homebound members St. Andrew has a team of dedicated volunteers that brings the Word to those who are unable to join us in person. If you or a loved one would like a visit, contact Nurture Minister Mark Kjenstad. It is our great pleasure to do so.

St. Andrew Growth Groups If you have never been in a Growth Group at St. Andrew, you are welcome to give it a try. Stop in room 97 or 98 on Sunday morning at 9:30. By observing you will get a good idea of what it’s like to be part of a group. You can come and go as you please. You can then choose to make it permanent or wait until January to join a new group from the beginning. Contact Nurture Minister Mark Kjenstad with Growth Group questions.

Impact 2.0 A new St. Andrew podcast is on the way. Impact 2.0 is coming soon. This is not going to replace Impact. God-willing, Impact continues with a new episode each Monday. Impact 2.0 will feature interviews with people of faith, our sisters and brothers in Christ. These guests will share their faith to help your faith. You will hear from people standing firm and persevering through great difficulty. You will hear other people talk about their love for God and their commitment to Christ. Episode zero will be released on October 14 and the first episode on October 21. Episodes will follow every other month.

Impact podcast Judgment Day is coming. 1 Thessalonians 4 is a chapter that looks ahead to that day and pulls away some of the mystery. Our guest that will help us take a look is Professor Joel Russow from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

LWMS rally at St. Andrew October 17 This year we have the privilege of hosting the Capitol Circuit Fall Rally. Mission-minded women will come together to encourage one another in spiritual growth and mission awareness. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet and join with sisters (and brothers) in Christ for worship and fellowship and to learn about missions at home and around the world. The main speaker is Madison’s own Pastor Bilitz from Wisconsin Lutheran Chapel on mission efforts in Africa. This event is Saturday, October 17, 9 AM – 12 PM (and then lunch). Registration begins at 8:30 AM. Please contact Amanda Taticek on how you can serve at the rally. Learn more about Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society at lwms.org.

Care Ministry Care Ministry is a new ministry dedicated to serving the people of St. Andrew (and beyond) in various ways. It may involve cards, cooking, logistical assistance, prayer, etc. Please email [email protected] to get involved or to request assistance for you or someone else.

Monthly Mission Partner Our September Mission Partner is our Ministerial Education Fund. This is St. Andrew’s effort to ease the financial burden of those attending schools that prepare them for the full-time public ministry of the gospel. This year, four St. Andrew members are on that path. Isaiah Durkee and Kylie Roekle attend Martin Luther College, and Ivy and Levi Durkee attend Luther Preparatory School.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Westside Stride Here are just a few of the photos from our largest school event called the Westside Stride. It was a beautiful day to get out and run a few laps. Many parents, grandparents, and friends watched and cheered on our students as they attempted to run as many laps as they could around a designated oval. All who were in attendance enjoyed themselves! Proceeds from this year's Stride will help with new playground equipment as well as some field trips and educational needs of the students. We are already looking forward to next year!
